History
From 1951 to 1957, T. Mashlai, a renowned educational scientist of Mongolia, served as the rector of the State Institute of Teachers. During the period from 1951 to 1954, he held the position of the head of the Department of Education and Psychology. Additionally, he continued to serve as the head of the department until 1979.
Until 1983, education and psychology courses were instructed by one department, and then two departments were developed with the establishment of separate departments of pedagogy and psychology.
T. Mashlai (1951-1954), Sh. Maamkhyu (1954-1959), J. Tseveensuren (1959-1964), Ts. Oyun (1964-1966), D. Sanjjav (1966-1983), A. Zagdaa (1983-1988), J. Batdelger (1988-1989), B. Davasuren (1990-1996), S. Bathuyag (1996-2006), Ch. Purevdorj as deputy editor, S. Erdenetsetseg (2006-2010), Ch. Baigalmaa (2011-2014) and G. Bayarmaa (from 2014 to now) worked respectively in the department of pedagogy.
In 1962-1968, the department trained elementary school teachers and methodologists, and in 1969-1992, specialists in higher education in the field of preschool education.
The head of the Department of Psychology was Professor D. Sanjjav until 1992, Deputy Doctor and Associate Professor L. Urantsetseg (1992-1997), Deputy Doctor O. Myagmar (1997-2011), Doctor (Ph.D), Professor B. Tuya (2011-2021) and Dr. G. Galsanjamts (from September 2021 to now) worked respectively. The department started training psychologists in 1997.
The departments were affiliated to the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences in 1991, and to the Pedagogical Research and Research Center in 1993. The activities of the faculty and the center expanded, and then, by the rector's order No. 212 of 1997, it became an independent Center for Educational Psychology, with S. Batkhuyag as the head of the Department of Pedagogical Sciences.
In 1997, the National Institute of Education, which had the main responsibility of organizing professional development activities for teachers, became a part of the Mongolian State University of Teachers and expanded to include a professional development center.
In 1997, a social work center was established at the School of Educational Development and Ts. Natsagdolgor, associate professor of psychology, worked as its head. It began to deliver social services to the people and train social workers and psychologists. In July 1999, the Central Department of Social Work was organized and H. Ulziitungalag worked as the head, and from 2007 until now, Dr. (Ph.D.), associate professor T. Tsendsuren has been working as the head of the department. In 1991-1995 and 1997-1999, the director of the School of Educational Development was the former director of MNUE, Academician, Honored Teacher of Mongolia, Doctor of Science B. Jadamba, (1995-1997), Honored Teacher of Mongolia, Doctor, Professor N. Jadamba (1999 -2000) worked as a director and made a valuable contribution to training, research, and methodological development. Dozens of scientists, teachers, and educators who contributed to the development of Mongolia's education sector worked in our school, which became the basis for the development of MNUE as the main university.
Since 2001, it has been operating under the name of School of Educational Studies for more than 20 years. According to order No. 359 of 2001 of the rector of MNUE, Dr. and Professor Ts. Sumiya (2001-2013), D. Mandakh (2013-2014), and G. Tsogzolmaa (2014-2022) served as the director of the school. Also, from July 2022, D. Munkhjargal (Ph.D.) has been appointed as the director of the School of Educational Studies.
